Medicinal Mushrooms YOU CAN'T HEAL A FRAGMENTED MIND IN A DISCONNECTED BODYwith Amelia South

We’re taught to treat anxiety and depression like they live in the mind alone — but as an herbalist, I see something very different.

In this talk, I share how gut health, mineral status, and nervous system depletion directly impact mood, and how herbs and nutrition can help bring the body back into a place of stability. But I also go deeper into something that isn’t talked about enough — how trauma can cause the mind to compartmentalize, and why feeling “not like yourself” isn’t always just stress.
This is the bridge between physical and mental healing. When the body feels safe again, it opens the door for the mind to come back online.

I’ll be weaving together herbalism, lived experience, and practical tools practitioners can actually use — especially for clients who feel stuck, disconnected, or like something deeper is going on beneath the surface.

Amelia South is a foraging instructor and herbalist who has spent nearly two decades cooking, teaching, and healing with wild plants. She is the author of Think Like an Herbalist and Uncovering Amy, where she explores the connection between trauma, the subconscious mind, gut health, and the body’s ability to heal. Through her no-BS, hands-on teaching style, Amelia empowers people to reconnect with nature, trust their bodies, and support both physical and emotional wellness through herbs, food, and nervous system healing.

AN EVENING WITH 'ADELMA GRANIER SIMMONS'
with Michele Maclure

In this workshop, Michele will impersonate Adelma Grenier Simmons from Caprilands Herb Farm. We will enjoy tea and treats by the fire. 'Adelma' will talk about her herb gardens and the many books she wrote. If time allows, we can make one of her tea blends together.

IN MEMORY OF A PLANT
with Barbara Aspland-Wolf

As herbalists we are frequently asked to name our favorite plant.  We may have a top 3, 5, 20.  How well do you really know them, if you were to choose one?  We’re going to have some fun with this and conduct an interview with a plant.  Let’s dig up some dirt; see who flirts with the animal kingdom; see where they like to travel; and so much more.

Barbara Aspland-Wolf  is a Flower Essence Practitioner, Reiki Master/Teacher, Herbalist, and Plant Communication Educator. Working with plants is a melding of her science background, herbal studies, and energy work. Plants as beings are a part of her education to others. She is the owner of Garden Gate Herbals and a community herbal teacher. She has taught at Sage Mountain, Herbstalk, the Northeast Herbal Association retreats, Plants Speak, and local programs. In addition to leading nature walks, she has written for United Plant Savers, the Northeast Herbal Association journal, Aroma Culture e-magazine, is a co-editor of the Northeast Herbal Association newsletter, and writes a monthly newsletter for her business. Barbara is a member of United Plant Savers, Native Plant Trust, International Association of Reiki Practitioners, and the Flower Essence Society. Down time includes family, hiking, gardening, reading, photography, and Tae Kwon Do.

HEALING & TRANSFORMATION USING JIN SHIN JYUTSU
with Hannelore Devlin

Jin Shin Jyutsu, an ancient Japanese healing art, uses the power of gentle touch to harmonize the vital energy of your whole self--body, emotions, mind and spirit--to induce deep relaxation, promote wellness and tap your own healing ability.

Often referred to as "acupuncture without needles", Jin Shin Jyutsu works with the life energy that flows through your body on pathways similar to the acupuncture meridians. Along these pathways are specific areas (26 on each side of the body) called “safety energy locks” that act like circuit breakers: by locking when the flow of energy in a pathway is too much, too little or stagnant, they protect us from further disharmony. When a safety energy lock is blocked, symptoms such as pain or dysfunction will appear in that area of the body.
Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners can unlock the blockage and release imbalance and symptoms by using their hands as “jumper cables,” specifying safety energy locks in certain sequences. Once the energy flows freely, harmony and wellness are restored.

In this workshop, we will learn some Jin Shin Jyutsu techniques for healing and restoring balance to the mind, emotions, & physical body.
Hannelore was raised and educated in Europe, then trained and worked as both a fine artist and commercial graphic designer after coming to the United States. In 2001, Hannelore answered a compelling inner urging and began to study Therapeutic Touch. She was so profoundly impressed by her experience that she continued her Energy Healing studies with renowned healer Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine at Omega Institute and then further into the ancient Japanese healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ)®. Here she feels she has found her calling.
Hannelore’s keen intuition and experience of various energy healing modalities heighten her deep knowledge of JSJ so she can bring to each client’s personalized therapeutic session an acute ability to address her or his particular needs. She treats serious illnesses including cancer as well as putting her relaxation techniques and healing touch to the work of relieving everyday stress and helping clients manage temporary and chronic pain.

Hannelore is certified as a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner by Jin Shin Jyutsu Inc. of Scottsdale, AZ, a member of the American Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and a member of NEHA and CHA.
