“The Ancient Art of Smudging” with Gayle Gineo Nogas

Smudging is the common name given to powerful cleansing technique from the healing cultures around the world. The burning of herbs for emotional, psychic, and spiritual purification is a common practice among many religious, healing, and spiritual traditions. It is a ceremonial way to cleanse a person, place or an object of negative energies or influences. It is also an effective method for energizing or blessing a person, place or object.

Gayle Nogas will demonstrate how to do a deep natural cleanse on our energy and someone else’s.
During this workshop, Gayle will demonstrate several different smudging techniques, and discusses the wisdom behind this ancestral art, to bring balance to your life. You will also learn about the different herbs used in smudging, how to give and receive the basic body smudge, as well as how to smudge a room.

Participants will be making their own smudge stick using several types of plant material.

"A Thoroughly Enjoyable, Politically Necessary Approach to Knowing and Loving the Clitoris" with Isa Coffey, RN

Join Isa for a delicious, empowering afternoon of touring the inner and outer landscape of the female clitoris; exploring recipes for tissue-supportive natural lubricants; trying out a bit of orgasm-isn’t-the-final-goal, safe and sexy partnered gazing; and sampling rich, nutrient-abundant aphrodisiac elixirs. We’ll spend a moment on a few of the lesser-known, clitoris-related inner structures of the penis.  We’re sure to bring warmth, joy, and muscle to this chilly November afternoon!

Isa Coffey RN is a radical, politically engaged sexuality educator, with 4 decades of teaching and clinical work.  Five years ago, she founded WiseBodies, a community-oriented sexuality school for all ages.  WiseBodies provides some of the necessary tools for personal and political wholeness.

Hydrosol & Essential Oil Making with Jamie Moran

During our free time we will be able to distill some plant material (ie lemon balm or mint, possibly pine) -- whatever we have at that time of year (fresh or dried). We will be using a glass still to produce hydrosol and possibly essential oils, depending on the plan we choose.

Keynote Address by Marguerite Uhlmann-Bower, R.N.
'Interspecies Communications'
Picture
Marguerite Uhlmann-Bower, R.N., traditionally trained Herbalist, co-founder and director of Plant Pioneers. She teaches an herbal apprentices at Earth School  and lay people on wild food foraging relationships where weed plants are recognized for their resilience and are true gifts for every human. Living in reciprocity is a basic fundamental ground. Her philosophy is that by bringing people to the plants, she’s in essence tending to the future of our planet. She says, “There is a global investigation to discover the realm of the outdoors. My purpose thus is to be there for those interested in Natures future. Giving participants the tools to get started is key, but they also get to experience a palpable human-plant exchange. This becomes part of theirfoundation imprinted from their experiences and is an investment for future. Our focus is restorative, rather than consuming. The honing of our senses to remember our roots [the past] and empower us to know how to move forward [the future] to a better way of life for Earth.”
